Old Oak Cottages, Little Thirkleby
Old Oak Cottages is a cluster of luxury holiday cottages on the edge of the North York Moors. The owners wanted to lower the running costs of the business which consisted of high electricity bills for the cottages and a high oil consumption for their swimming pool complex.
We installed a 24kW solar PV system to help reduce the electricity costs and also a 10 panel 23.2 m² flat plate solar thermal hot water system to help reduce the running cost of the swimming pool.
As the pool was used for a commercial purpose it was eligible for the Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive providing quarterly payments for the next 20 years. Coupled with oil savings the system has a payback period of 5-6 years as well as an RPI linked investment into the business.
“Duncan Renewables have provided us with an excellent service from start to finish. Stuart and Liam were very helpful, explaining how everything would work and all work completed on time with courteous consideration to our holidaymakers staying with us at the time. We would highly recommend the team. All seems to be working well and looking forward to reduced heating costs.” Mr & Mrs Tattersall
